Matt Dickason/Chesapeake had two hits and two RBIs for the Lancers (14-22, 4-10 Big South) in the middle game of the three-game weekend series against the visiting Flames (28-8, 13-1 Big South). Longwood and Liberty will play the league series finale on Sunday, April 13 at 1 p.m. in Farmville.
Liberty scored two runs in the first inning to lead 2-0. Nick Lacik (1-4) reached on an infield single back to the mound to open the game and crossed the plate with one out on an RBI single through the right side by Seiz (2-4, 2 RBIs), who advanced to third base when the right fielder misplayed the ball. Becker Sankey (0-2, 2 RBIs) followed with a sacrifice fly to left field that plated Seiz.
Longwood scored a run in the first, as well, to make it 2-1. Dickason (2-4, 2 RBIs) singled to the infield on the left side and crossed the plate on a two-out, RBI single to right field by senior captain
Alex Owens/Purcellville (2-3, RBI). The Lancers scored two runs in the second inning to take a 3-2 advantage. Sophomore

Brandon Harvell/York (1-3) reached on a fielding error by the pitcher while attempting a sacrifice bunt. Roth and Harvell each advanced a base on a sacrifice bunt by sophomore
Colton Konvicka/Richmond (1-3), and Roth scored on a ground ball to shortstop from Dickason, before Harvell crossed the plate on a run-scoring double to right center field by sophomore

Liberty added a run in the fourth inning to tie it at 3-3. Dalton Britt (1-5) reached on a single with one out and later scored with two outs on an RBI single by Dylan Allen (2-4, RBI).
Longwood scored two runs in the fourth to go back in front, 5-3. Konvicka reached on an infield single to third base, stole second and scored on an RBI double to left center field by Dickason, who scored with two outs on an RBI single from junior
Brandon Delk/Newport News (1-5, RBI).
Liberty got a run back in the fifth inning to make it 5-4, getting a two-out, opposite field home run to right field from Seiz. The Flames scored three runs in the sixth inning to take their first lead at 7-5. Allen reached on a fielder's choice before a pair of two-out walks to Ashton Perritt (0-3) and Lacik loaded the bases. A two-run single by Shepherd (2-5, 2 RBIs), along with a misplay of the ball in center field, allowed Lacik to score all the way from first on the hit.
Liberty added another run in the ninth inning for the final three-run margin. Seiz was hit by a pitch with one out, stole second base, advanced to third via a balk and scored on a sacrifice fly RBI to center field by Sankey.
Junior
Brandon Vick/Newport News (3-4) started for Longwood and pitched the first 5.2 innings for the mound loss, allowing seven hits and seven runs, five earned, with three strikeouts and four walks. Junior
Aaron Myers/Newport News tossed one-third of an inning in relief of Vick, yielding the hit that plated the go-ahead runs, with no strikeouts and no walks. Freshman
Devin Gould/Fairfax Station pitched the final 3.0 innings for the Lancers, allowing one hit and one earned run with two strikeouts and no walks.
Fulghum (3-2) started for Liberty and went the distance for the win, scattering 11 hits and five runs, four earned, with three strikeouts and four walks.
