FARMVILLE, Va. -- Andressa Garcia and Alice Garcia led visiting Winthrop University to a sweep in singles, while the duo combined in doubles to help the nationally ranked No. 63 Eagles (8-3, 2-0 Big South) to a 7-0 Big South Conference women's tennis victory at Longwood University on Friday in Farmville. The Lancers (2-5, 1-3 Big South) will play another Big South match against Gardner-Webb University on Saturday, March 22 at 12 p.m. in Farmville.
"Today was tough," said first-year Longwood head coach
Casey Wharton. "We knew they were going to be a good team, and we knew we had to raise our game to compete. And though we played hard, it wasn't enough today. And that's ok. We prepared hard, we played hard, and did everything we could. So there is nothing to hang out heads about. But tomorrow, we will remember what we did well, and use that momentum against Gardner-Webb."
