Box Score

CLINTON, S.C. – Senior Bethany Law/Ona, West Virginia, junior Malin Allgurin/Värnamo, Sweden and freshman Mason Thomas/Buchanan Dam, Texas each won in singles to lead Longwood University to a 4-3 Big South Conference women's tennis road victory at Presbyterian College on Friday in Clinton, South Carolina.  The visiting Lancers (2-2, 1-0 Big South) also won two of three doubles matches to earn the victory against the Blue Hose (3-6-1, 0-2 Big South).  Longwood will remain on the road to play at Big South member UNC Asheville on Sunday, March 2 at 12 p.m. in Asheville, North Carolina.

"Today was an exciting match," said first-year head coach Casey Wharton.  "We've been battling some injuries, and Presbyterian is a good team, especially at home.  But we found a way to get it done, and the fact that it came down to the wire, made it even more exciting!  Overall, I am so pleased with how we fought.  Now I look forward to a day off, to watch the guys, and get ready for Asheville on Sunday."

In the match-opening doubles competition, Allgurin and senior Sarah Moomau/Winchester won at No. 1 against Greer Ransom and Courtney Gardiner, 8-7 (10-8), while Thomas and Law won at No. 3 against Carolina deLoach and Lucia Leahy, 8-3.  Freshmen Paloma Alatorre/Katy, Texas and Anna Pelak/McLean fell at No. 2 against Patricia Alves and Kayla Stanford, 1-8.
