Lancers Will Face Ultra-Athletic Eastern Michigan Team in Finale of EMU Showcase

The Opening Tip
•    Longwood plays the fourth game of a six-game road stretch Saturday against Eastern Michigan in the finale of the EMU Showcase. Longwood is currently 1-1 in the tournament after defeating UNCG, 81-79, in overtime Friday and falling to Youngstown State, 82-72, Saturday.
•    Lotanna Nwogbo is averaging a double-double in the tournament with 17.0 points and 10.0 rebounds per game. Shaquille Johnson is averaging 14.5 points and 4.5 assists in tournament.
•    Both Johnson and Nwogbo have scored in double figures in every game this season.    
•    Longwood has had a 20-point scorer in three of four games this season. Darrion Allen has two 20-point outings, while Ryan
Badowski also has a 20-point game to his credit.
•    Longwood is averaging 30.5 points in the paint per game.

The Last Time Out
•    Shawn Amiker and DJ Cole scored 18 points apiece to lead Youngstown State to an 82-72 win over Longwood Saturday at the EMU Showcase.
•    Amiker hit five consecutive field goals in the middle of a 13-2 run in the second half to give the Penguins a cushion they would ride to the end of the game.
•    Cole registered a double-double with 18 points and 12 assists, while center Bobby Hain also doubled up with 15 points and 12 rebounds.
•    Shaquille Johnson played through a stomach virus to score 16 points, his most in a Lancer uniform. Lotanna Nwogbo also added 16 points and grabbed eight rebounds.
•    Redshirt seinor point guard Quincy Taylor made his regular season debut for Longwood and scored 14 points with seven assists. Taylor's scored 10 of those points with five assists in the second half.

By The Numbers
•    Junior guard Shaquille Johnson and redshirt junior center Lotanna Nwogbo have scored in double figures in each of Longwood's first four games. They are both in their first season of eligibility at Longwood and rank among the Big South's top 10 in points per game.
•    Nwogbo is averaging a double-double in his two games at the EMU Showcase, averaging 17.0 points and 10.0 rebounds per game, Nwogbo had 18 points and 12 rebounds Friday against UNCG for his first career double-double and followed with 16 points and eight rebounds Saturday against Youngstown State.
•    Redshirt senior point guard Quincy Taylor made his regular season debut Saturday against Youngstown State and broke out with 14 points and seven assists in 39 minutes of action. Taylor had been sidelined by the NCAA for Longwood's first three games for participation in an unsanctioned recreational basketball league.
•    Longwood scored a season-high 40 points in the paint against Youngstown State and is averaging 30.5 points per game in the paint this season.
•    Lotanna Nwogbo is shooting .647 (22-of-34) from the field and .882 (15-of-17) from the free throw line this season, both of which rank among the top five in the Big South. Nwogbo has shot .800 or better from the floor twice this season, including an 8-of-10 performance against Youngstown State Saturday.
•    Longwood has had a 20-point scorer in each of its first three games, including two from Darrion Allen and another from freshman Ryan Badowski in the season opener.
•    Ryan Badowski leads all NCAA freshmen with 14 made three-pointers and 3.5 made three-pointers per game. Badowski is shooting .368 (14-of-38) from three-point range and has made at least three treys in three of his four games.
•    Longwood has forced the opposition into a conference-leading 16.8 turnovers per game.
