The Opening Tip• Longwood plays its first road game of the year Wednesday at James Madison. It will be the first of six straight games away from home for the Lancers, who then travel to the EMU Showcase in Ypsilanti, Mich., on Nov. 22-24.
• The Lancers won their season opener, 79-53, over Averett Friday. It was the program's second season-opening win since joining the Division I ranks in 2007-08.
• The Lancers enter their second season under head coach
Jayson Gee. In Gee's first season, Longwood went 8-24 overall and 3-13 in the Big South.
• Longwood has seven newcomers to the lineup for 2014-15, including three eligible transfers and four freshmen. Longwood does not have a single player on the roster who has been with the program more than two seasons.

Ryan Badowski hit seven three-pointers and scored a team-high 21 points to lead Longwood to a season-opening 79-53 win over Averett Friday in Willett Hall.
• Badowski went 7-of-12 from beyond the arc and hit five consecutive three-pointers in the second half. His seven treys tied for the second most by a Longwood player in the Division I era.
• Longwood forced Averett into 25 turnovers thanks to a combined seven steals from the guard duo of junior
Leron Fisher and freshman
Kanayo Obi-Rapu. Fisher started at point guard in place of redshirt senior
Quincy Taylor, who will miss the first three games of the season, and contributed eight points, three assists and four steals.
• Averett did not hit a single three-pointer for the entire game, finishing 0-of-11 from the three-point line.

Ryan Badowski was tabbed by MidMajorMadness.com as the Big South Freshman of the Week after pouring in 21 points on seven three-pointers in Friday's 79-53 win over Averett. Badowski went 7-of-12 from three-point range in the win to tie for the second-most treys during the NCAA's opening weekend of play.
• Through his first two collegiate games, including a 95-60 exhibition win over Hampden-Sydney, Badowski is averaging 19.5 points per game with 13 three-pointers and a .590 (13-of-22) shooting percentage from beyond the arc.
• Redshirt junior
Lotanna Nwogbo scored 13 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the field and grabbed six rebounds in his Longwood debut. Nwogbo, a 6-8, 255-pound center, transferred to Longwood from Tulane and sat out the 2013-14 season.

Leron Fisher tied for second in the Big South last season with 1.7 steals per game. He swiped four in Longwood's 2014-15 season opener against Averett and currently leads the Big South in that category.
• Longwood lost its top four leading scorers from one year ago and returns just 25 percent of the scoring from last season's squad. The top returning scorer is
Leron Fisher, who averaged 6.9 points per game in 24 starts.
