Brandon Vick/Newport News started and pitched the first five innings for the Lancers (6-8), taking the pitching loss. Longwood will host Temple University of the Atlantic 10 Conference on Tuesday, March 12 at Bolding Stadium in Farmville beginning at 4 p.m.
Canisius scored two runs in the first inning, one run in the third, three runs in the fifth and a final run in the eighth inning. Brett Siddall (3-4, RBI) led the Griffins with three hits and an RBI, Shane Zimmer (1-3, 2 RBI) and Mike Booth (1-3, 2 RBI) each added a hit with two RBI, while Jesse Kelso (2-4, RBI) contributed a double, triple and an RBI. Godzak (1-0) started went the first 7.0 innings, scattering three hits with one walk and four strikeouts.
