Longwood Welcomes Eastern Kentucky Saturday, 4 p.m.

FARMVILLE, Va. --
Longwood University will welcome Eastern Kentucky University of the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) in men's basketball on Saturday afternoon, December 7 at 4 p.m. at Willett Hall in Farmville.  The Lancers (3-6), under the direction of first-year head coach Jayson Gee, are led by senior captain Tristan Carey (19.1 points, 6.3 rebounds, 25 3FGs).  The Colonels (6-3), picked to win the OVC East Division and coached by ninth-year veteran Jeff Neubauer, are led by senior Glenn Cosey (18.8 points, 28 3FGs).  The game will be streamed live on the Big South Network (All Free, All The Time) and can be heard locally on WVHL Radio, Kickin' Country 92.9 FM or via the Internet at wvhl.net. 

Series History
Longwood and Eastern Kentucky have met just one time previously on the hardwood, as the Colonels defeated the Lancers by a score of 78-71 on January 22, 2012 in Richmond, Kentucky.  Senior captain Tristan Carey scored a game-high 25 points in that contest, while Jeff Johnson had 11 points and nine rebounds for EKU, who closed the game with a 17-10 run for the home win.

Looking At Longwood
Longwood is 3-6 overall, 0-0 in the Big South Conference after a 95-80 home win past NAIA member WVU Tech on Wednesday night.  Tristan Carey scored a game-high 27 points, including 4-10 three-pointers and 7-8 free throws.  Sophomore Karl Ziegler posted his second career double-double, tying his career-high with 23 points (7-10 FTs) and a career-high and game-high 15 rebounds.  Redshirt-junior captain Jeylani Dublin added his fourth career double-double with a season-high 18 points and a career-high 13 rebounds in 22 minutes off the bench.  Sophomore captain Lucas Woodhouse finished with his fourth career double-double, as well, with 11 points and a career-high and game-high 13 assists, adding six rebounds.  Sophomore transfer Leron Fisher contributed 10 points and a career-high six assists.  Longwood shot 50% (34-68) from the field, including 35% (6-17) on three-pointers and 81% (21-26) at the line.

Looking At Eastern Kentucky
Eastern Kentucky is 6-3 overall, 0-0 in the Ohio Valley Conference after a 71-68 road loss in overtime at VCU on Thursday night in Richmond.  Jeff Neubauer is in his ninth year as head coach of the Colonels.  EKU was led against VCU by 6-2 junior Corey Walden (19 points, 8 rebounds), 6-0 senior Glenn Cosey (17 points, 7 rebounds) and 6-4 senior Marcus Lewis (15 points).  The other two starters were 6-5 senior Tarius Johnson (4 points) and 6-8 junior Eric Stutz (4 points).  The Colonels shot 47% (26-55) from the field, including 28% (7-25) on three-point field goals and 75% (9-12) at the free throw line.

No Place Like Home
Longwood has attained a home record of 52-29 in Willett Hall over the last six-plus years since receiving its NCAA Division I certification and eligibility for 2007-08.  The Lancers are 66-39 at home over the past eight-plus years, not including the first year playing a Division I schedule in 2004-05 (1-10).  The program finished an uncharacteristic 4-9 at home during 2012-13, but was 7-5 during 2011-12, 10-4 during 2010-11, 9-3 during 2009-10, 13-2 during 2008-09, 7-5 during 2007-08, 6-6 during 2006-07 and 8-4 during 2005-06.  Overall, Longwood has compiled a record of 270-151 on its home court over 33-plus years since playing its first intercollegiate contest in the building on November 22, 1980 against the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore, a 62-54 victory by the Lancers.
