Kyndal Skersick/Orlando, Fla. logged a career-high five three-pointers en route to a personal-best and game-high 23 points, as the Longwood University women's basketball team fell, 74-55, against Big South Conference opponent Campbell University (8-4, 3-1) on Monday evening. Deborah Headen/Herndon totaled a career-best eight boards in the decision to pace the team. Longwood (3-9, 0-3) will play back-to-back conference games on the road beginning at Presbyterian College on Thursday, January 2. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m.
"It was good to have Kyndal and Raven back in the lineup tonight," said head coach
Bill Reinson. "They played hard and I think it energized the rest of the team. Emily continues to make strides and Deb had some very good stretches. We had a ton of open shots tonight and just couldn't get them to fall. I still believe we have a chance to be pretty good once we put it all together."

Emily Nylen/Rockford, Ill. ended the silence for the Lancers, scoring four in a row, including a three-point play off a hard foul. The rookie's points ignited a 16-5 Longwood run, aided by eight points from Williams, to cut the difference to just four at 24-20 with 9:56 to play in the period. Six-straight points for the visitors increased their margin back to double digits, but Skersick knocked down a jumper from beyond and arc and followed with one from the paint to make the score, 32-25, at 6:28. The teams alternated points, as Williams and Skersick drained threes for the Lancers to pull the home squad within five at 36-31 with just over four minutes left. The Fighting Camels fought back with a 9-2 run in the waning minutes of the half to take a 45-33 edge into the break.

Treasure Avery/Lincolnton, N.C. to cut the margin back to 10, but Campbell scored the next eight points as part of a 15-2 spurt, giving the visitors a 60-37 advantage with just over nine minutes to play in the outing. Headen hit a jumper and a layup for the Lancers before Skersick notched five-straight points to make it a 62-46 margin at 6:19. Campbell outscored Longwood, 9-3, in the next five minutes, as the Lancers' lone basket during the stretch came from Skersick beyond the arc. Williams and Skersick notched one more three-pointer apiece for Longwood's final points of the evening, as the Fighting Camels secured a 74-55 victory.
Skersick notched a career-high eight field goals in the outing. As a team, the Lancers shot 31% (20-65) from the floor, including 23% (9-40) from beyond the arc, and 55% (6-11) from the line.
Roslyn Presley logged a double-double of 17 points and 11 rebounds to pace CU. As a whole, Campbell shot 48% (29-60) from the field, 50% (8-16) from three-point territory and 67% (8-12) from the foul line.
Monday's contest marked the 11th meeting between Longwood and Campbell in the sport of women's basketball. The Fighting Camels now hold a 7-4 advantage in the all-time series.
