Longwood answered back with a run in the third when sophomore captain
Matt Dickason|Chesapeake (Indian River) (1-3) drew a lead-off walk and scored on an RBI single by junior
Justin Lacy|Glen Allen (J.R. Tucker) (1-4, RBI). It remained a 4-2 contest until the ninth when the Keydets plated a pair of insurance runs via a run-scoring single by Dickinson who later crossed the plate as well on a wild pitch.
