Longwood Gets By North Carolina Central 4-3

FARMVILLE, Va. – Longwood University earned a close women's tennis victory 4-3 against visiting North Carolina Central University of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Friday afternoon on Lancer Courts in Farmville. Junior Hannah Hill|Portsmouth (Western Branch) and sophomore Nicole Parker|Richmond (Mills Godwin) swept their singles matches 6-0, 6-0 at #5 and #6, respectively, as well as their #3 doubles match 8-0. The Lancers (6-8) return to the courts on Sunday, March 25 at 3 p.m., traveling to Harrisonburg, Virginia to play James Madison University of the Colonial Athletic Association.

Sophomore Sarah Moomau|Winchester (John Handley) and freshman Malin Allgurin|Värnamo, Sweden (Finnvedens Gymnasium) also won in singles. Moomau took a 6-3, 6-4 win at #4 singles, while Allgurin won 6-1, 6-1 at #3. Falling in singles competition were juniors Marta Pinyol|Barcelona, Spain (IESM Ferran Tallada) and Allison Shulman|Richmond (Deep Run). Pinyol fell 6-4, 6-4 at #1, and Shulman played #2, falling 6-4, 6-3. Moomau paired with Pinyol at #2 doubles and lost of tight match 9-8 (6), while the duo of Allgurin and Shulman fell 8-3 at #1 doubles.
