FARMVILLE, Va. -- The Longwood University men's soccer team defeated Virginia Wesleyan College 3-1 in an exhibition match on Tuesday evening at the Athletics Complex in Farmville. The Marlins scored in the 13th minute but Longwood sophomore Nick Surkamp|Manassas (Osbourn Park) and senior Zack Mahon|San Antonio, Texas (William Howard Taft) each scored to give the Lancers the 2-1 halftime lead. Freshman Daena Bodie|Guernsey, England (St. Sampson's Secondary School) added a goal in the 88th minute to make the final score 3-1. Longwood opens the regular season at home on Saturday, August 27, when it hosts Randolph College at 11 a.m. at the Athletics Complex in Farmville. Admission is free to all Longwood home fall athletics events.
