WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The Longwood University men's soccer team dropped a 4-3 exhibition decision at the College of William and Mary, ranked thirteenth in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America preseason poll, on Tuesday evening in Williamsburg. Junior Devin Pierce|Virginia Beach (Ocean Lakes) scored in the first minute for the Lancers and sophomore Nick Surkamp|Manassas (Osbourn Park) added a goal in the 40th minute to give Longwood the 2-1 halftime lead. Sophomore Brian Henry|Stafford (Colonial Forge) scored in the 79th minute to tie the match at 3-3. Longwood returns home for one final exhibition match next Tuesday, August 23, when it hosts Virginia Wesleyan College at 7 p.m. at the Athletics Complex in Farmville. The Lancers open the regular season on Saturday, August 27, against Randolph College at the Athletics Complex. Admission is free to all home men's soccer matches.
