LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Longwood University women's tennis team lost its sixth match of the season 5-2 at Liberty in Lynchburg, Virginia Tuesday afternoon. Sophomore Marta Pinyol|Barcelona, Spain (IESM Ferran Tallada) and senior Zsofia Jakab|Minusio, Switzerland (Lices Cantonale Locarns) scored the Lancers' two points. LU travels to Virginia State in Petersburg, Virginia tomorrow (Wednesday), April 6, at 3 p.m. in a make-up contest.

Jakab tallied a 6-3, 6-4 decision at No. 1 as Pinyol won No. 2 6-4, 6-2. At No. 3 singles, junior Veronika Bohm|Hirschberg, Germany (Ludwig Frank) dropped 6-3, 6-0, and sophomore Allison Shulman|Richmond (Deep Run) went down 6-2, 6-3 at No. 4. In No. 5 action, freshman Sarah Moomau|Winchester (John Haneley) fell in three sets 2-6, 6-1, 6-1, while freshman Bethany Law|Ona, W. Va. (Cabell Midland) was also outlasted in three sets 4-6, 6-4, 6-2.

In doubles, Jakab and Pinyol were topped by their No. 1 foe 8-3. Law and Shulman lost at No. 2 8-6, and Sophomore Hannah Hill|Portsmouth (Western Branch) and freshman Nicole Parker|Richmond (Mills Godwin) paired up for the No. 3 loss 8-2.
