ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The Longwood University women's tennis team dropped two matches Sunday, February 6 in Annapolis, Maryland, first against George Mason University, 2-5, followed by Navy, 2-4. Senior Zsofia Jakab|Minusio, Switzerland (Lices Cantonale Locarns) won both of her #1 singles matches on the day, 3-6, 6-3, (10-5) and 7-5, 6-4, respectively, while sophomore Hannah Hill|Portsmouth (Western Branch) and freshman Nicole Parker|Richmond (Mills Godwin) were the only pair to win in doubles action on the day, 8-7, at No. 3. The Lancers will host Shaw on Saturday, February 12 at 1:00 p.m. in Farmville.

Against George Mason, sophomore Allison Shulman|Richmond (Deep Run) won her No. 4 singles match 6-4, 6-2, but dropped the Navy decision, 0-6, 1-6.  Sophomore Marta Pinyol|Barcelona, Spain (IESM Ferran Tallada) fell at #2 singles against GMU, 6-3, 3-6, (10-12), but topped her Navy opponent later in the day 7-6 (4), 7-5.
 
At No. 3 singles, junior Veronika Bohm|Hirschberg, Germany (Ludwig Frank) lost to GMU and Navy, 2-6, 7-5, (7-10) and 2-6, 5-7, respectively. Freshman Sarah Moomau|Winchester (John Haneley), at No. 5, was also defeated in both decisions, 3-6, 6-1, (8-10) and 4-6, 3-6, versus GMU and Navy, respectively. Freshman Bethany Law|Ona, W. Va. (Cabell Midland) filled the #6 slot for the Lancers and fell twice on the day, 6-3, 3-6, (8-10) first against GMU, while her score against Navy was 0-6, 6-3, (7-10).

In the other two doubles matches played against George Mason, Jakab and Pinyol fell 3-8 at #1, while Shulman and Law dropped 6-8 in the No. 2 position. No doubles matches were played against Navy due to time restraints.
