DURHAM, N.C. – The Longwood University women's tennis team defeated the Eagles of North Carolina Central 5-2 on Saturday, February 19 in Durham, North Carolina. The Lancers won two-of-three doubles matches and four-of-six singles matches. Sophomore Allison Shulman|Richmond (Deep Run) and freshman Bethany Law|Ona, W. Va. (Cabell Midland) paired up to win their No. 2 doubles match 8-4 while also topping their respective opponents in singles action. Shulman won 6-4, 7-5 at No. 4 and Law was victorious at No. 6 with a score of 6-4, 6-1. The Lancers remain in North Carolina to face NC A&T at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 20.

Senior Zsofia Jakab|Minusio, Switzerland (Lices Cantonale Locarns) and sophomore Marta Pinyol|Barcelona, Spain (IESM Ferran Tallada) fell both as a pair in No. 1 doubles (4-8) and as individuals in No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively. Jakab dropped a 2-6, 1-6 decision, while Pinyol fell by a 3-6, 3-6 mark. Junior Veronika Bohm|Hirschberg, Germany (Ludwig Frank) topped her No. 3 singles foe 6-3, 7-5, and freshman Sarah Moomau|Winchester (John Haneley) won in the No. 5 spot 6-1, 6-3.

Sophomore Hannah Hill|Portsmouth (Western Branch) and freshman Nicole Parker|Richmond (Mills Godwin) were on the winning end of their doubles match with a decisive 8-2 victory in the No. 3 slot.
