CHARLESTON, S.C. -- Longwood University dropped a disappointing 2-1 women's soccer decision on the road at Charleston Southern University of the Big South Conference Tuesday in Charleston, South Carolina. Longwood took a 1-0 advantage into the intermission as Ottavio, ranked third nationally in goals this week, tallied her team-leading 11th goal at 28:17 when she moved the back of the net with a rebound attempt in the box. It was directly off a shot by freshman

“We did more than enough to win this game, creating plenty of chances but we just didn't score the goals needed to get a result,” said 17th-year head coach
Todd Dyer '93. “When you let things get into someone else's hands, bad things can and often happen which was definitely the scenario today. We'll look to rally and get back on track when we return home this weekend.”
Longwood took an 18-15 advantage in shots, including 10-8 in attempts on-goal, while taking a 7-2 advantage on corner kicks as well. Graduate keeper

It was the seventh meeting between the two schools in the sport of women's soccer as Longwood continues to lead the all-time series at 4-3. The Lancers finished 3-1 against Big South Conference competition this season, and is now 12-5-1 against schools from that league since moving to Division I in 2007.
