JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Longwood University men's soccer fell at the University of North Florida 1-0 on Saturday afternoon in Jacksonville, Florida. The Ospreys (1-3) scored the match-winning goal the 42nd minute. Longwood (0-6) returns to action Wednesday, September 22, when it hosts Virginia Commonwealth University at the Athletics Complex in Farmville at 7 p.m.. Admission is free.
“We knew this was going to be a tentative match due to the programs' records,” said sixth-year head coach
Jon Atkinson. “While we had our fair share of play, we didn't do enough. The bizarre nature of the goal sums up the rub of the green we have experienced all season. We will see what character surfaces over the next few matches. We are in for a dog fight and I'm looking forward to seeing who steps up to the plate to be counted and who will wear the Lancer blue with pride.”

Longwood had six shots on goal among 10 shots while North Florida had 11 shots with five shots on goal. The Ospreys had the 7-5 advantage on corner kicks. Helmick made four saves while Tyler Willets had six saves in the shutout. Sophomore
