FARMVILLE, Va. -- Former Longwood University baseball standout Lance Harting/Ballston Spa, N.Y. was recently named to the 2010 ABCA/Rawlings All-East Region Second-Team. A right-handed pitcher, he finished his senior season with a perfect 10-0 record on the mound while compiling a 3.11 earned run average through 81.0 innings with 59 strikeouts and 23 walks. Harting made 22 appearances, including eight starts, with five complete games and one shutout while limiting opponents to a .243 average. He led the Lancers' pitching staff in wins, winning percentage (1.000), ERA, appearances, innings, and strikeouts as well as fewest hits, walks, runs, and earned runs allowed. Harting was also perfect in the field with no errors in 41 chances from the mound with 12 putouts and 29 assists along with one pickoff. His unbeaten pitching record was only the second in the program's history while the 10 wins rank fourth-best all-time. Lance is the son of Jack and Gail Harting of Ballston Spa, New York.

Longwood completed its recent 2010 campaign with a final record of 28-20, marking its 29th overall 20-win campaign and 22nd season with at least 25 wins in the program's 33-year history. Veteran 32nd-year head coach Charles Buddy Bolding now has an outstanding overall record of 872-477-4 since taking over during the fall of 1978, including 29 winning seasons as mentor of the tradition-rich program.
