FARMVILLE, Va. -- Longwood University swept a baseball doubleheader from visiting Coppin State University at Bolding Stadium Monday afternoon in Farmville, winning the first game 11-10 before taking the second game 14-5 to open the campaign with five consecutive victories. The Lancers (5-0) rallied from an early 6-2 deficit in the opener with eight runs in the third inning before withstanding a late rally by the Eagles (0-5), while taking an early 8-0 advantage in the nightcap en route to the twinbill sweep. Longwood is scheduled to play at North Carolina Central on Tuesday in Durham, North Carolina beginning at 3 p.m..
In game one, Longwood fell behind 6-1 in the second inning as Coppin State scored six runs before the Lancers scored two runs in the second and eight more runs in the third to lead 11-6 after three innings.
