CLINTON, S.C. -- Longwood University took a 50-35 women's basketball road victory at Presbyterian College of the Big South Conference Tuesday night in Clinton, South Carolina. Sophomore
Cierra Baker/Windsor, Conn. (Windsor) scored a game-high 14 points to lead the Lancers who stopped a four-game losing streak and improved their record to 7-17. Katlin Moore scored 13 points to lead the Blue Hose who dropped to 3-20 overall, remaining 0-10 in the Big South. Longwood will play again on Friday, February 20, hosting North Carolina Central University at Willett Hall in Farmville beginning at 7 p.m..
Longwood fell behind 5-0 at Presbyterian during the first minute of action, and trailed 9-3 at 14:55 before using a 13-0 run to lead 16-9 with 5:45 left in the first half. Baker scored seven points during the run, while senior

Krystal Garrison/Fredericksburg (Courtland) had two free throws. The Lancers extended their advantage to 24-11 at 3:16 following a three-point play inside by freshman
Morgan Smith/Williamsport, Md. (Williamsport). Garrison gave the visitors a 28-14 lead at 00:31 with two more free throws as LU led 28-17 at the intermission.
Longwood continued its momentum in the second half and led 35-19 at 15:43 on a jumper from senior
Amber Sims/Lawrenceville (Brunswick Senior), increasing the margin to 40-21 at 12:42 on a layup by Steg, while taking its largest lead at 46-24 with 9:18 on the clock after another layup from Baker. Presbyterian managed to close to within 47-33 at 2:52 but Baker finished her outstanding night with a three-point play off a layup and free throw for the final points by the Lancers.
Baker scored her game-high and season-high 14 points off the bench, adding six rebounds and a career-high four steals to lead Longwood. Steg finished with eight points and six rebounds, while freshman
Sierra Fletcher/Utica, Ohio (Utica) had six points and two steals for the Lancers. Smith contributed five points, six rebounds, and two assists, Garrison had five points, and freshman
Emma Zieverink/West Chester, Ohio (Lakota West) added four points and a career-high seven rebounds. LU shot 34% (18-53) from the field, including 14% (2-14) on three-pointers, and 57% (12-21) at the free throw line. Longwood also forced 23 turnovers that were converted into 20 points, while the Lancers' bench outscored the bench of the hosts 26-0.
Moore scored her 13 points to lead Presbyterian, while Amanda Mills finished with 12 points for the Blue Hose. PC shot 25% (12-48) from the field, including 18% (3-17) on three-pointers, and 80% (8-10) at the line.
Longwood has now won all four games played against Presbyterian in the brief series, including last year's 73-58 home win against the Blue Hose in Farmville.
