Longwood To Face Syracuse On The Road Sunday, Nov. 30 At 1 p.m.

The Lancers are set to face BIG EAST member Syracuse on Sunday, November 30 at 1 p.m.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Lancers head into their matchup against Syracuse after dropping their game against Atlantic 10 Conference member Richmond, 72-47, on November 25 at home in Willett Hall. Freshman Brittanni Billups was tied for a game-high 15 points and five rebounds. Brooke Long knocked down 11 baskets for the Lancers, while also pulling down four rebounds.

Syracuse, in its first appearance at the Great Alaska Shootout, recorded a 85-74 victory against Jackson State in the University of Alaska Anchorage's Sullivan Arena on November 25. SU had four players record double-digit points with sophomore guard Erica Morrow leading the Orange with a team-high 24 points. Senior guard Chandrea Jones added 22, junior guard Juanita Ward scored 11 and sophomore guard Tasha Harris contributed 10. Nine of Ward's points came from free throws after going 9-for-11. Jones led the Orange in rebounding with nine, while Harris and Morrow each had five assists.

This marks the first meeting between the two sides.

• The Lancers shot 37% (17-46) from field goal range in their game against Richmond, while shooting 9-24 in the first half

• Longwood shot 39% (5-13) from behind the arc for the game

• The Lancers were 80% (8-10) from the free-throw line

Who's Hot

 Brittanni Billups had the game of her career on Tuesday night against Richmond, tying for a game-high 15 points despite the Lancers' loss. Billups also pulled down five rebounds, which was tied for the game-high. The 6-1 freshman is now averaging 6.0 a game, while shooting 50% from field goal range.

Who's Not

The Lancers continue to have trouble hanging onto the ball, producing 104 turnovers this season. Three members of the team are currently standing with double digit turnovers, while every member of the team who has seen playing time, with the exception of one player, has turned the ball over at least once. Longwood also struggles to hit their three-point shots, shooting 27% (20-74) from behind the arc.

The Lancers return home following the Syracuse game to host George Mason on December 4 at 3 p.m. in Willett Hall. After George Mason, the Lancers will be a bit of a break before hitting the road once again, this time for the North Florida Holiday Classic on December 17-18.
