Men's basketball junior Darrion Allen averaged 14.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 3.0 steals per game in three games last week. Allen shot .444 (12-of-27) from the floor, .417 (5-of-12) from three-point range and .933 (14-of-15) from the free throw line while scoring in double figures in all three games.

A 6-2, 165-pound shooting guard, Allen nearly willed Longwood to a win over Big South foe Gardner-Webb, producing 18 points and 10 rebounds while tying the game three times during the one-point loss. Allen hit a three-pointer that tied the game at 64-64 in the final three minutes and then sank two free throws that knotted the game again at 66-66 with 1:28 to play. His 18 points and 10 rebounds were both season highs.

Allen also swiped a career-high five steals against UNC Asheville on New Year’s Eve, following up a Dec. 28 performance against Cairn in which he totaled four steals. Allen leads Longwood with 28 steals this season and is on pace to set career highs with 9.6 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game.
