Leading Off
• Longwood captured a three-game series sweep over Presbyterian over the weekend, as the Lancers concluded the weekend with their eighth straight win.
• Junior Elizabeth McCarthy and freshman Sydney Gay have been sensational over the past eight games. The two pitchers have given up more than one earned run in just one of their last eight starts and has helped lower Longwood's team-ERA to 2.09 for the season.
• Longwood is led by its three seniors -- Carly Adams, Jamie Barbour and Emily Murphy -- at the plate. Murphy leads all players on the Longwood roster with a .367 batting average with Barbour and Adams also hitting above the .330 mark for the season.
• The Longwood pitching staff enters the three-game weekend series against Radford ranked 15th in the nation with a 2.09 team-ERA.

By The Numbers
• Entering its ninth season playing at the Division I level, Longwood has never posted a season below the .500 mark. In those nine seasons, the Lancers have won at least 30 games in five seasons, including five of the past six seasons.
• Longwood will play perhaps its most daunting schedule in school history. The Lancers will face four teams that hosted 2015 NCAA Regionals, including a combined five games against Women's College World Series semifinalists Auburn and LSU.
• In addition, the Lancers will play 16 games against 10 teams that participated in the 2015 NCAA Regionals.
• For the first time since joining the Big South, Longwood was tabbed to win the league. Despite capturing two Big South Championships in its three previous seasons in the Big South, the Lancers have never entered the season as the league favorite before this season.
• Junior southpaw Elizabeth McCarthy was tabbed 2016 Preseason Pitcher of the Year by the league's nine head coaches. McCarthy, who was named 2015 Big South Pitcher of the Year, has captured at least 20 victories in her first two seasons with Longwood.
• Longwood returns five players who were named to Big South All-Conference last season. Elizabeth McCarthy, Justina Augustine and Emily Murphy were each named First-Team All-Big South, while Kelsey Sweeney and Glenn Walters were each named to the second-team.
• Longwood softball head coach Kathy Riley enters her 19th season leading the program. Longwood's all-time winningest coach, Riley has amassed 599 victories at Longwood and more than 600 in her 22-year career at Longwood and Mount Olive.
• In her 22 seasons of coaching, Kathy Riley has posted 20 consecutive seasons above the .500 mark. Her only two seasons below .500 were Riley's first at Mount Olive.
• Longwood softball signed two players to National Letters of Intent during the fall signing period. The Lancers signed Yorktown, Va., product Destiny Martinez and Abingdon, Va., native Leanna Toler.

Last Time Out
• Longwood extended its winning streak to eight games, as the Lancers picked up a three-game series sweep against Presbyterian over the weekend.
• For the weekend, Elizabeth McCarthy allowed just one earned run on four hits and struck out 14 batters in 13.0 innings while lowering her ERA to 2.24 for the season. McCarthy continues her strong stretch, giving up just four earned runs in her last five starts.
• The Longwood staff combined for 24 strikeouts and gave up just nine hits throughout the three-game series, as Presbyterian batters hit just .129 off the Longwood pitching staff throughout the weekend.

Scouting Radford
• Longwood's three-game series against Radford will see the top-two pitching staff's in the conference in terms of ERA go head-to-head.
• Similar to Longwood, Radford has two of the top-five pitchers in the Big South this season. Abby Morrow, along with Longwood's Sydney Gay, are the only two pitchers in the league with a sub-2.00 ERA. Morrow is second in the league with a 1.94 ERA.
• Radford ranks sixth in the league with a .265 batting average. Casey Burns and Marissa Gaqliano lead the Highlanders in batting average. Burns owns a .321 BA for the season while playing just 28 games. Gaqliano has 32 runs scored and 20 RBI on the season.
