In the spring of 2020, the Longwood Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) presented Taybron with the SAAC Acclaimed Commitment to the Excellence of Student-Athletes (A.C.E.S.) Award, which goes to the Longwood staff member who makes an extraordinary effort to the development of Longwood student-athletes. That award came after Taybron made a significant impact on the growth of the Longwood women's basketball program, which enjoyed a breakout 2019-20 season under second-year head coach Rebecca Tillett. That year, the team's first with Taybron, the Lancers set a school record with eight Big South wins 176 blocks and had multiple players lead the Big South in statistical categories, including scoring leader Kyla McMakin, assists leader Tra'Dayja Smith, blocks leader Akila Smith and field goal percentage leader Dayna Rouse.

A native of Wilson, N.C., she attended East Carolina University where she received her bachelor’s degree in Exercise Physiology while also playing soccer for the Pirates from 2014 to 2018. As a student-athlete, she was a four-time American Athletic Conference All-Academic Team selection, played in 58 career games and helped turn the Pirates into a 10-win program by her senior year.

During her sophomore year at ECU, she became passionate about strength and conditioning and interned with her strength and conditioning staff. After graduation, she went onto study to get her master’s degree in Human Performance with a concentration in Strength and Conditioning at Liberty University. While at Liberty, she interned with the Flames' Olympic sports strength and conditioning staff while working with with field hockey, women’s lacrosse, women’s soccer, men’s and women’s tennis, men’s golf, cheerleading, women’s swimming and diving, and softball.

At Longwood, Courtney oversees sports performance training for women's basketball, field hockey, women's lacrosse, men's soccer, women's soccer, men's tennis and women's tennis.
