Kate Keagins is in her second year at Longwood University during 2014-15, beginning employment on September 25, 2013. Keagins comes to Longwood after coaching the Long Island Yellow Jackets YJ19 Team, part of one of the top travel lacrosse organizations in Long Island, New York. Previously, she was a four-year standout midfielder at the University of the New Hampshire from 2008-12.
Keagins planned all practices, and created game lineups and strategy, as head coach of the Long Island Yellow Jackets. She has also gained coaching experience at the Amonte Lacrosse Camp run by Northwestern University and the Just 4 Girls Lacrosse Summer Camp, where she worked to teach technical skills to young athletes.
As a Division I student-athlete at the University of New Hampshire, Keagins totaled 93 goals and 40 assists for 133 total points in 68 career games. She was a senior captain for the Wildcats, earning All-America East Conference First Team honors and Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches’ Association (IWLCA) All-Northeast Region Second Team accolades in 2012. Keagins, who was ranked 13th nationally in caused turnovers during her final season, was voted the 2012 America East Women’s Lacrosse Fans’ Choice Player of the Year, as well. In 2010, she also garnered an All-America East First Team selection and was named to the league’s All-Rookie team in 2009.Â
Keagins, a native of Bay Shore, New York, earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from UNH in 2012.
