Biography
2019-20: One of the Big South’s most athletic and versatile players…an explosive leaper who boasts a 46-inch vertical leap…took a major step forward as a junior, nearly doubling his career scoring average with 10.6 points per game… a high-level defender who can match up with nearly any player on the floor…flies around the court and moves well in transition…a career .381 three-point shooter who consistently takes advantage of open looks…played AAU basketball with fellow Lancer Juan Munoz…enters senior season just 230 points shy of reaching 1,000 for his career.
2018-19: Enjoyed a breakout season in his first year under head coach Griff Aldrich, setting career highs in scoring (10.6), field goal percentage (.490), made three-pointers (51) and made field goals (142)…one of only two Lancers to start all 34 games…scored in double figures 21 times, including the first 20-point games of his career…scored in double figures in 10 of his final 12 games, averaging 11.8 points and shooting .412 (21-of-51) from three-point range during that span…amassed 18 blocks, second most on the team behind only 6-8 redshirt senior forward Damarion Geter’s 22…also added 22 steals, tied for the fourth most on the team…scored 20 points against Duquesne, hitting 8-of-13 shots from the field and 4-of-6 from three-point range on the road (Dec. 9)…scored 20 points again against Hampton, hitting 7-of-12 field goals and 4-of-6 three-pointers (Jan. 30)…knocked down at least three three-pointers seven times, including four games with four triples…hit 4-of-6 treys en route to a 12-point night in Longwood’s first-round CBI win over Southern Miss (March 20).
2017-18: Continued to serve as a valuable and versatile member of Longwood’s frontcourt, appearing in all 33 games while starting 12…joined cousin B.K. Ashe as the only Lancers to appear in every game in 2017-18…averaged 24.1 minutes per game while playing at least 30 minutes in seven games…averaged 6.2 points and 1.8 rebounds per game…set career highs in made three-pointers (28), made free throws (33), free throw attempts (56), free throw percentage (.589), points (205) and steals (22)…scored in double figures six times, including a pair of season-high 15-point outings against Charleston Southern and N.C. Wesleyan…hit at least one three-pointer in 25 games…had either a block or steal in 24 of his 33 games…had both a block and a steal in seven games…blocked multiple shots four times…swiped multiple steals five times.
2016-17: Thrived in a starting role, leading Longwood and ranking fifth in the Big South with 1.1 blocks per game as a freshman, and ranking among the team’s top five with 7.0 points, 3.7 rebounds, 1.1 steals, .463 (81-of-175) field goal percentage and .469 (15-of-32) three-point percentage…started 21 of 29 games, averaging 27.1 minutes per game…was the seventh-leading freshman scorer in the Big South despite playing a total of five minutes in his first three games…had at least one block in 14 straight games from Dec. 31 through Feb. 4, the longest such streak of Longwood’s 10-year Division I era…had the second-most blocks of any Longwood freshman in the Division I era, trailing only Michael Kessens’ 42 blocks in 2012-13…hit at least one field goal in all but two of his 29 games…grabbed five-plus rebounds eight times, including three games with eight boards…scored in double figures eight times…threw down seven dunks, tied for the second most on the team…was Longwood primary tipoff man, winning 10 of those…completed five three-point plays.
High School: Played his senior season at Legacy Charter School in Greenville, S.C., averaging 13.5 points, 7.1 rebounds, 2.1 blocks and 1.1 steals per game...led Legacy Charter to the 2016 USA Prep School National Championship after winning a North Carolina 4A State Championship at Garner High School in 2015...was featured as the No. 1 play on ESPN SportsCenter on Dec. 14, 2015 for a windmill dunk from the free throw line during a dunk contest at Legacy Charter...invited to compete in the 2016 High School Slam, which pulls in the top dunkers in all of high school basketball...played his first three seasons of basketball at Garner High School...helped Garner to a 28-1 record and the 4A state title as a junior...averaged 13.5 points, 6.1 rebounds, 2.0 blocks and 1.2 steals per game for the Trojans that year...played AAU basketball with fellow Longwood signee Juan Munoz on the Garner Road AAU Squad.
