Biography

86072016-17: Returns as one of the top guards in the Big South...coming off a breakout junior campaign in which he led the league in three-point percentage, led all Big South guards in blocks and also ranked among the top 10 in steals...possesses high-level athleticism that translates to on-court production...can slash to the basket or hit shots from from long range with remarkable efficiency...one of the best backcourt defenders in the Big South, capable of defending on and off the ball...attended the prestigious AIA Captains Academy with teammate Damarion Geter in Xenia, Ohio, over the summer.

2015-16: Enjoyed a breakout junior campaign, starting all 33 games while averaging 10.4 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.5 steals per game...played a team-high 1,058 minutes at an average of 32.1 per game...led the Big South with a .462 three-point percentage, hitting 54-of-117 shots from beyond the arc...that three-point clip ranked as the second best in school history...led all Big South guards with 21 blocks, the second most on the team behind only All-Big South center Lotanna Nwogbo, who had 43...also ranked tied for seventh with 48 steals...shot a team-leading .879 (58-of-66) from the free throw line for the third-highest single-season clip in school history...scored in double figures in 14 of his final 20 games, including a 22-point explosion in the 75-69 first-round win over No. 9 seed Charleston Southern in the Big South Championship (3/3)...ranked fifth among Big South players under 6-3 with 3.8 rebounds per game...hit a three-pointer in 26 games, including 21 of his final 22 games...hit at least four treys five times, including a 6-of-8 (.750) shooting performance from beyond the arc against High Point (2/18)...notched his first career double-double against Gardner-Webb, grabbing 10 rebounds to go with 18 points (1/2)...also went a perfect 10-of-10 from the free throw line against Gardner-Webb that night...missed more than one free throw just one time all season.

2014-15: Started 14 of 33 games…was the first player off the bench in a team-high 13 games…averaged 5.2 points, 2.2 rebounds and 0.9 assists per game…shot .367 (58-of-158) from the field and .291 (16-of-55) from three-point range…hit 74.1 percent (40-of-54) of his free throws…logged back-to-back 20-point games against James Madison (11/19) and UNC Greensboro (11/21), scoring 20 and 22 respectively…shot 14-of-29 (.482) from the field and 5-of-12 (.417) from three-point range during that two-game stretch…averaged 26.5 minutes per game in Longwood’s Big South Tournament wins over Presbyterian (3/4) and Charleston Southern (3/6)…scored eight points off the bench in the historic 70-62 upset win over No. 1 seed Charleston Southern.

2013-14: First-year team member … member of the first recruiting class for head coach Jayson Gee ... started six of 30 games, averaging 19.1 minutes, 5.6 points and 1.6 rebounds per game ... shot .406 (65-of-160) from the field ... added 26 assists, five blocks and 12 steals ... the highest-scoring member of Longwood's freshman class.

High School: All-State Second Team by the Sun Sentinel newspaper in South Florida and All-State Third Team by the Miami Herald as a senior at Blanche Ely (Fla.), two-time Florida Class 7A State Champions … helped BEHS to a record of 27-2 as a senior, averaging 10.4 points, 4.9 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 3.0 steals … BEHS also participated in the 2012 and 2013 ESPN National High School Invitational … also participated in track and field.

Personal: Son of April S. Coker … first name pronounced “DARE-ee-uhn” … born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida … has three sisters: Crystal, Dominique and Alyssa … sister (Crystal) plays basketball at Kentucky State University.
