Lupetin came to Longwood in 2021 as a graduate assistant, and he served as the director of basketball operations beginning in the 2022-23 season.
In 2023-24, he helped Longwood win their second Big South Championship in three seasons to earn their second trip to the NCAA National Tournament. In addition, the Lancers won at least 20 games for a third straight season, the longest streak in program history, and the team's 67 wins are the most in a three-year span.
Longwood closed the season with seven wins in its final 10 games, including a run in the Big South Tournament that saw them take down Winthrop, top seeded High Point and second seeded UNC Asheville to claim the conference crown. Longwood then was named a No. 16 seed in the NCAA Tournament, where they played No. 1 seed Houston.
Early in the season, the Lancers boasted the nation's longest winning streak at the time it was snapped after winning 15 straight games. The 15 straight wins also served as the second-longest winning streak in team history.
Longwood boasted one of the top rebounding outfits in the nation. The Lancers ranked sixth in rebounding margin (+8.6) and 12th in offensive rebounds per game (13.4). In addition, the team had the top scoring defense in the Big South, only surrendering 68.5 points per game.

In his first season as the team’s DOBO, he helped Longwood to a second straight 20-win season for the first time in program history. In addition, the team’s 46 wins over a two-year span represent the second-most in team history, one shy of the program record.

In the 2022-23 season, the Lancers finished second in the Big South standings, and a pair of players earned All-Big South honors. . Guards Isaiah Wilkins (All-Big South First Team) and DeShaun Wade (All-Big South Honorable Mention) both earned all-conference honors for a second straight season.

It was the first time the Lancers have had a player, much less two, earn All-Big South honors in back-to-back seasons, and Wilkins was the first player to earn All-Big South First Team honors twice.

Longwood boasted one of the top defenses in the Big South. Longwood surrendered 65.7 points per game, good for third in the league. The Lancers also finished 40th in the nation in turnover margin and forced the second-most turnovers in the league.

Lupetin came to Farmville after coaching in the spring season of AAU in 2021 following his graduation from Marist College.

As a player, Lupetin played for two seasons at St. John Fisher University. During his time at St. John Fisher, his team won the Empire 8 Championship in 2017 and earned a trip to the NCAA Tournament during his freshman season.
