Biography

Coach Bolding: “Luke is expected to finally help out his team this season.  He has improved his control, and through the daily reinforcement of the pitching tenets espoused by Coach McCullough, Luke should be better able to both earn pitching time and maximize that time when given those chances.  Above all, Luke simply must throw more strikes and earlier strikes.”

2010: Third-year team member … will open as #3 in bullpen … 2009: 0-0, 5.79 ERA, 14.0 innings pitched, seven strikeouts (4.50) … made eight appearances, starting four … had mid-season stretch of five appearances covering 9.2 innings with a 4.65 ERA … 2008: 0-0, 10.12 ERA, 5.1 innings pitched, four strikeouts (6.75) … made five appearances … had season-ending stretch of three  appearances covering 2.2 innings with a 6.74 ERA … High School: Standout at Ocean Lakes … compiled high school career record of 14-3 with four saves … also played football … Personal: Son of Bill Townsend and Belinda Donaldson … an uncle (Kevin Greene) played professional football for the NFL’s St. Louis Rams, Pittsburgh Steelers, Carolina Panthers, and San Francisco 49ers … attended 2006 Longwood Fall Clinic … Academics: Criminology and criminal justice major, minor in homeland security … athletics-academic honor roll recipient.
