Biography

2016: Team captain received first team All-Big South and second team all-region (ABCA East) honors ... finished third in the Big South in ERA (2.35), fourth in batting average against (.225), fifth in innings pitched (99.2), and fifth in strikeouts (85) ... made 18 appearances, including a conference-leading 16 starts ... finished career fifth in school history in innings pitched (269.0) and ninth in strikeouts (187) ... set school record for fewest hits per game in one season (4.56) ... led staff with eight quality starts ... went 8-2 as the Friday night starter as Longwood's ace and the Lancers posted a 13-3 record in starts, winning 13 consecutive games ... tossed career-high 8.2 innings in win against Farleigh Dickinson, throwing 121 pitches (3/4) ... entered game as pinch runner against Farleigh Dickinson and scored winning run on wild pitch (3/5) ... tossed 5.2 innings of two-run ball in win against No. 22 Coastal Carolina (3/18).

2015: Started 12 of 21 games played … went 3-3 with one save in 63.2 innings of work … finished second on the team in ERA (5.23), second in opposing batting average (.292), and second in strikeouts (55) … started the season as a weekend starter, but pitched better in relief late in the season … had three quality starts … had nine scoreless appearances, seven out of the bullpen … struck out a season-high nine batters in six innings of work with one walk and allowed two runs on four hits, but received no decision against North Carolina A&T (4/12) … went eight scoreless innings with six strikeouts and got the win against Charleston Southern (3/22) … pitched 7.1 scoreless innings with five strikeouts and picked up the win against Army (2/28) … pitched two or more innings three times out of the bullpen … pitched three scoreless innings out of the bullpen with three strikeouts and got the save at Gardner-Webb (5/9); hit in the top of the ninth and singled before stealing second and scoring a run … didn’t allow a hit or a walk in one inning of relief at Virginia (4/21).

2014: Pitched in 21 games with five starts ... went 3-5 with a 4.13 ERA in 56.2 innings pitched ... struck out 23 batters and led team with four saves ... started 12 of 30 games played as an outfielder … hit .226 with five runs scored ...  drove in six runs and had three multi-hit games.

2013: Made team-high 24 appearances with two starts … went 3-7 with a 4.78 ERA in 49.0 innings pitched ... posted 24 strikeouts and picked up two saves … led team in fewest runs allowed (30) and relief appearances (24) ... finished second in saves and games finished (11) ... third on team in opponent batting average (.307) and batters struck out looking (9) ... was fourth on team in innings pitched, ERA, strikeouts and win-loss percentage (.300) … as an outfielder started 35 of 50 games played … hit .212 with two doubles, scored 13 runs, and stole 10 bases in 12 attempts … recorded seven multi-hit games … had season-best five-game hitting streak and went 6-21 (.286) in stretch … reached base in six straight.

High School: Standout at Brookville … two-time all-district and all-region selection ...  hit .450 and went 7-2 on the mound as a senior ... was all-state and picked up team MVP honors in final high school season … helped team to district title as a senior, regional titles as a senior and junior, and Virginia Group AA State Runners-Up as a senior … also played basketball for one year and participated in indoor track for three years, including two state championship-qualifying relay teams.

Personal: Son of JoAnne and Bill Burnette … cousin, Brandon Stanley, played baseball and basketball at Emory and Henry College … played in the 2013 Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League for the Silver Spring (Md.) Thunderbolts (0-3, 5.50 ERA, 18.0 innings, 15 strikeouts, 3 saves) … led 2012 American Legion team to district and state championships en route to a regional championship season.

Academics: Majoring in business administration.
