FARMVILLE, Va. - Longwood head men's golf coach Kevin Fillman announced the addition of Brandon Washburn to the Lancers as the program's graduate assistant.  

 

"I'm excited to have Brandon on board," Fillman said. "He and I have a lot of the same beliefs and values, both in golf and likely life as well, and I know we're going to work extremely well together. He's been out recruiting with me several times over the past few weeks and has already made major contributions in that area. There's no doubt he will have an impact on our current team as well. I believe that having a knowledgeable voice that's much closer to their age will help our guys be successful both on and off the golf course." 

 

Washburn joins the Longwood program after competing for the golf team at Bridgewater College for four years. In 2025-26, he earned All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference First Team honors. He posted seven top-five finishes and recorded a 73.8 stroke average across 21 events as a senior.  

 

Academically, Washburn earned his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science in May. As part of his undergraduate course work, he designed and built a full-stack sports analytics platform, called Eagle Analytics. His team's work was featured in the Daily News-Record. At Longwood, he will pursue his MBA.  

 

Washburn has experience in the coaching ranks, serving as a junior golf coach at Independence Golf Club in Powhatan, Va., for two years. He assisted in running and managing golf camps through the Robins Junior Golf Program.  

 

Outside of golf, Washburn served as an IT Intern for Ukrop's Homestyle Foods in the summer of 2025. He developed and deployed a custom cake ordering application, contributing to the launch of Ukrop's online ordering platform. 

 

The Lancers start the 2026-27 season at the Bryan National Collegiate in Greensboro, N.C., Sept. 12-13.
