FARMVILLE, Va. — Mariam Hatem has been hired as a graduate assistant coach for the women's tennis team at Longwood, director of tennis Charlotte Clarke announced Tuesday.
Hatem comes to Farmville after playing four years of tennis at Louisiana Monroe (2022-25) and Idaho (2025-26) and serving as team captain as for the Warhawks in her junior season. She posted a career-best seven singles wins, helping the Vandals advance to the 2026 Big Sky Conference semifinals.
"I am excited to welcome Mariam to our women's tennis program as a graduate assistant," Clarke said. "Mariam comes from a successful playing career from the University of Idaho and I am confident she will bring the energy, knowledge and a team-first mentality to take our women's program to the next level. I am excited to see the impact she will have on our athletes."
Since graduation, Hatem has been as a tennis professional and private coach at PRC Club in New Orleans. There, she worked with junior and adult players of all skill levels, providing lessons while developing personalized coaching and training plans.
Hatem helped players improve technique, footwork, match strategy and overall confidence on the court. She coached athletes to manage pressure during matches, keeping them composed, focused and confident in challenging situations. Hatem also was a summer camp instructor at PRC Club, teaching tennis fundamentals while creating a fun, positive and competitive environment.
"I'm excited to join the Longwood tennis family as a graduate assistant coach," said Hatem. "From my very first call with Coach Charlotte, we instantly clicked, and I knew this was a place I wanted to be. I'm looking forward to getting to know the girls on the team, supporting them on and off the court and continuing my own growth while earning my master's degree. I'm grateful for this opportunity and excited to be part of the program."
A native of Cairo, Egypt, Hatem graduated from Idaho in 2026 with a bachelor's degree in business administration. She is pursuing an MBA with a finance concentration at Longwood.Â
