FARMVILLE, Va. — Three Longwood women's tennis players have been named to the 2025-26 Academic All-District® NCAA Division I Team as selected by the College Sports Communicators, the organization announced Tuesday.
Sophomore Alexandra Magia, junior Feline van Eijkelenburg and senior Oriana Izarra each earned the honor.
To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore, have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 or higher on a 4.0 scale and appear in at 75 percent of their team's dual matches.
Since 1952, the award has recognized the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The Academic All-America® program separately recognizes women's and men's tennis honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Magia, a 3.843 GPA student in business administration from Athens, Greece, was named to the All-Big South Second Team in doubles this season. She finished the year 11-10 in singles this season, including being one of three Lancers with van Eijkelenburg and Hima Fernando to go 3-0 in Big South matches. She also was 10-11 in doubles overall, but 7-6 in the spring. She was a perfect 3-0 at No. 3.
van Eijkelenburg, a 3.933 GPA student in physics from Haarlem, Netherlands, was was named to All-Big South First Team in singles and second team in doubles and was named the Big South Scholar-Athlete of the Year. She played to a 18-10 mark in singles in 2025-26, including a 9-6 record in dual action. She was named Big South Player of the Week March 25 and went 12-14 in doubles, including 6-9 in duals, earning all six dual wins at No. 2 doubles.
Izarra, a 3.858 student in business administration from Valencia, Venezuela, earned All-Big South Second Team honors in doubles this season. She finished is 13-9 in doubles on the season and 8-5 in duals on the year. Izarra went 7-14 in singles overall.
Both van Eijkelenburg and Izarra also earned CSC All-District honors last season in 2024-25.
Longwood (9-8) earned a share of the Big South regular-season championship at 3-1 in the league and claimed the top seed in the conference tournament for the first time. The Lancers fell in the semifinals of the event.
