FARMVILLE, Va. — Alexandra Magia dispatched Campbell's Hayley Glen in three sets to lift the Longwood women's tennis team to a 4-3 win over the Fighting Camels on the New Lancer Courts on Thursday.
Magia beat Glen, 6-2, 4-6, 6-1, on court five to clinch the Lancers' second consecutive dual victory against former Big South member Campbell. After dropping the doubles point, Longwood (4-4) claimed four of six matches in singles play to seal the win.
Mollie Garcia gave Campbell (1-7) a 2-0 lead in the dual with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Feline van Eijkelenburg at No. 3 before Longwood won the next three matches to finish on courts one, two and six, respectively to take a 3-2 lead.
Bali Song beat Sandra Mari Marti, 6-4, 6-3, at No. 1, Hima Fernando defeated Sonia Pieczynska, 6-0, 6-3, at No. 2 and Nicole Di Biscelia outlasted Brooke Murphy, 4-6, 6-1, 6-4.
The Camels' Ilouna Aneca posted a 4-6, 6-0, 6-3 win against Oriaba Izarra on court three, setting the stage for Magia's deciding three-set win.
Longwood is in Clinton, S.C., to open Big South Conference action at Presbyterian Sunday at Sunday at 10 a.m.
