NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Four different players  players won a pair of matches on Saturday to help the Longwood women's tennis team to its first dual-match victory of the season, beating Christopher Newport, 6-1, at the James River Country Club.

The Lancers swept doubles as Alexandra Magia and Hima Fernando topped Erin Gross and Eva Taylor at No. 3, 6-3, Feline van Eijkelenburg and Elizaveta Gnilozubova beat Kendal Chang and Samantha Robertson, 7-6 (3) at No. 2 and Bali Song and Oriana Izarra defeated Lindsey Bergelin and Kylie Schaefer by the same score on court one.

In singles, Fernando won, 6-0, 6-0, against Robertson at No. 3, van Eijkelenburg beat Schaefer, 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 and Izarra dispatched Taylor, 6-4, 6-4, at No. 4 after Song dropped a three-setter to Chang at No. 1.

Genevieve Dickey defeated Bergelin, 7-5, 6-2, at No. 5 and Magia beat Gross, 6-2, 6-3, finish the day.

Longwood (1-1) is back in action next Saturday, hosting UNCW at noon.
