Lancers News and Notes
- This weekend serves as the program's annual Homecoming and Alumni Weekend at Longwood. Since moving into the Joan Perry Brock Center, the Lancers are 3-0 on Homecoming, averaging nearly 90 points per game and winning on average by 26 points.

- Longwood and N.C. Central meet for the sixth time in the last four years. The teams split two games each in 2023 and 2024, while the Lancers won last season in Durham. The Eagles will be the first of four games against the MEAC for the Lancers this season. Longwood is 14-4 against the league since 2020.

- Senior Jaylen Benard recorded a double-double for the second-straight game with 13 points and 10 rebounds at Saint Joseph's. He tallied 14 points and 10 rebounds in the win over Pfeiffer. They are the first two double-doubles of his career, and he is one of only four players nationally, as of Nov. 6, with double-doubles in the first two games of the season.

- The Lancers have drilled 11 3-pointers in each of the first two contests. It marks the first time Longwood has hit double-digits triples in back-to-back games since February of 2024. The last time Longwood hit 10 or more 3-pointers in three-straight games was in December of 2021.

- Longwood attempted 42 3-pointers at Saint Joseph's. It marked the most in a single game by the Lancers since attempting 43 against The Citadel in 2019.

- After putting seven players in double figures in the season-opening win over Pfeiffer, four Lancers scored in double figures at Saint Joseph's. Fifth-year wing Alphonzo Billups III led Longwood with 17 points, while sophomores TJ Robinson and MJ Williams tallied 14 points apiece and Benard totaled 13 against the Hawks.

- Longwood erupted for 123 points in its victory over Pfeiffer to open the season. The total was the most in the program's Division I era and the third most overall.

- The Lancers turned up the pressure in its season-opening win over Pfeiffer. Longwood recorded 17 steals, the second most in the program's DI history and most since they registered 21 vs. Virginia Intermont in 2008. Longwood turned Pfeiffer over 27 times and scored 42 points off those miscues. Last season, the Lancers ranked 17th nationally in turnovers forced (14.8) and 25th in steals (8.7).

- After finishing tied for fourth in the Big South standings last season, the Lancers were picked in the same spot in the preseason poll by vote of the league coaches and were just three points shy of third-place Winthrop. High Point was the league's preseason favorite followed by Presbyterian.

- Longwood has won two of the last five Big South Championships. The Lancers won the league tournament and advanced to the NCAA Tournament in 2022 and 2024.

- Following last year's 16-win campaign, Longwood is currently on a streak of five consecutive seasons with 16 or more wins. The stretch is the longest in school history, and the Lancers have averaged more than 20 wins per season over the last five years.

- Billups III and Williams were named to the preseason All-Big South Second Team in October. Longwood was one of three programs in the league, along with High Point and Presbyterian, to have multiple preseason All-Big South selections.

- Over the summer, Longwood took an 11-day international trip to Italy. The Lancers collected three wins during the trip, and off the court, the program visited sites such as The Vatican, the Sistine Chapel, St. Peter's Basilica and Michelangelo's David, the Colosseum, the Pantheon, the Roman Forum, the beach in Monterosso, and Lake Commo. The last time Longwood went on an international trip was to England and France prior to the 2023-24 season, and the program went on to win the 2024 Big South championship.

- Longwood Athletics announced Skanska will be the inaugural jersey patch sponsor of Lancer basketball. Longwood and Skanska have built a strong partnership in recent years, with the global construction and development company overseeing several capital projects on campus, including the Joan Perry Brock Center.
