THE OPENING TIP
•    Longwood wraps up a two-game road swing with a trip to UNC Asheville on Wednesday night.
•    The Lancers are playing their eighth true road game of the season and 10th game away from home.
•    Longwood and UNC Asheville were picked to finish third and second, respectively in the Big South Preseason Poll. Asheville had one first-place vote.
•    Toyaz Solomon, from Asheville, was the Big South Preseason Player of the Year and was joined by Longwood's Elijah Tucker on the Big South Preseason All-Conference First team.
•    Longwood has shot at least 35 percent from three in three straight games and is 2-1 in those three outings.
•    The matchup against Asheville gives Longwood a third straight matchup against a team that has advanced to the Big South Championship game in the past two seasons.
 
LAST TIME OUT
•    Longwood had a three-game winning streak snapped in the trip to High Point on Saturday.
•    Terry Anderson led all scorers with a career-high 29 for High Point on 10-14 shooting from the floor to lead HPU to an 80-67 win.
•    Emanuel Richards led Longwood with 16 points and was one of three Lancers in double figures.
•    Redd Thompson, Jr. added 15 points while Jacoi Hutchinson chipped in 10.
•    High Point had three other players hit double figures in Owen Aquino (15 points), Rob Martin (12 points) and Conrad Martinez (11 points).
•    The first half was a back-and-forth affair. High Point took a double-digit lead, but Longwood trimmed it to 42-40 at the break.
•    The game was tied at 46 apiece, but Anderson and HPU's defense powered a short 9-0 spurt that proved pivotal. The Lancers kept it within single digits, but HPU slowly pulled away down the stretch.
