CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Longwood guard Jesstynie Scott has been named Big South Co-Freshman of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
Scott averaged 16 points, five steals and 2.5 rebounds per game in a 1-1 week. The Americus, Ga., native scored a career-high 20 points on 7-for-13 shooting as the Lancers stopped a two-game skid with a 74-50 home win over USC Upstate on Friday. She also tied her career high with seven steals in the victory, going 5-for-5 from the line and 1-of-4 from downtown.
Scott finished the week 12-for-23 (52.2 percent) from the floor.
Through 20 games off the bench this season, Scott is averaging 8.5 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.8 steals and 1.3 assists per game.
The Big South weekly honor — which she shares with Radford's Georgia Simonsen — is her fourth of the season, having also won the award for the league's top freshman Nov. 10, 17 and Dec. 1.
Longwood (14-6, 5-2 Big South) is back in action Wednesday at Gardner-Webb. Tip time is 7 p.m., on ESPN+.
