THE OPENING TIP
•    After playing three of four on the road, Longwood now plays three of four at home, hosting Gardner-Webb, Charleston Southern and High Point in the next two weeks.
•    Wednesday night's game is sponsored by The Yeatman Group, and it is First Responders Night, Nursing Night and Central Virginia Christian School night at the Joan Perry Brock Center.
•    Only one team in the Big South has a winning streak of more than two games, and there are no unbeaten teams in league action.
•    Six of the nine teams in the league have 10 wins or more in 20 games, including Longwood.
•    Seven players are averaging at least six points per game for the Lancers while no player is averaging more than 12.
•    Jacoi Hutchinson (12.0 ppg) leads the team in scoring, while Elijah Tucker (11.9), Redd Thompson Jr. and Johan Nziemi (10.4) also average in double figures.
 
LAST TIME OUT
•    Redd Thompson Jr. powered a Longwood rally that came up just short at Radford on Saturday in an 85-83 loss.
•    The sophomore scored 16 of his team-leading 21 points after halftime as the Lancers erased on 18-point hole and tied the game at 83 on his three with 15 seconds left.
•    However, Del Jones scored a buzzer-beating layup to give Radford the win. He had a game high 25 points.
•    Elijah Tucker came up big on the glass for Longwood with his third double-double of the season with 17 points and 16 rebounds. The 16 boards tied a career high.
•    Jacoi Hutchinson and Johan Nziemi chipped in with 10 points and five assists apiece.
•    Radford shot better than 60 percent in the first half to build a big lead, and Longwood returned the favor after halftime to whittle the advantage away.
 
BY THE NUMBERS
•    Longwood is shooting .392 (40-102) from three in Big South play after shooting .276 (79-286) through non-conference action.
•    Redd Thompson Jr. and Jaylen Benard have both hit 11 threes in five Big South games.
•    The Lancers have also rebounded their opposition in Big South play, and the team is averaging nearly 10 offensive boards per game.
•    Three players have grabbed at least 10 rebounds in conference action: Johan Nziemi (15), Elijah Jones (13) and Elijah Tucker (12).
•    Three different players have led them in scoring in conference action: Thompson (twice), Emanuel Richards (twice) and Tucker (once).
•    For the season, six different players have led the team in scoring.
•    Eight different players have scored in double figures.
•    Jacoi Hutchinson has scored in double figures a team-high 15 times.
•    The Lancers are 9-1 when they lead at the half, with the lone loss coming on the road at Wake Forest in December.
•    Elijah Tucker leads the team in scoring at home, averaging 14.9 points per game at the Joan Perry Brock Center.
•    Longwood averages 86 points per game in the JPB as a team and boast a 7-2 record in the venue this season.
•    The Lancers have scored at least 90 points four times in front of their home crowd this season.
•    The Lancers are second in the Big South in turnovers forced per game with 14.2 and second in the league in steals per game with 8.4.
•    Longwood also leads the Big South in free throw percentage (.754) and is third in the league in free throws attempts per game (23.8).
