FARMVILLE, Va. – Longwood women's golfer
Avery Nordman put together another strong result, and she was named the Big South Women's Golf Freshman of the Week, the conference office announced today.
Nordman tied for ninth in the 78-player field at the Elon Invitational and had the lowest round for the team on the weekend with a second-round 68 on the Par 71 course. That helped the Lancers finish fifth in the 14-team field.
The Lancer freshman also tied for second in the field in pars, with 40, and Par 4 scoring average, where she was even over the 54-hole event.
She finished with seven birdies at the event, and the top 10 finish was the first of her Lancer career. She tied for 12
th in her collegiate debut at the Jayhawk Invitational.
It is also the second time Nordman has earned Big South Freshman of the Week honors this season.
The Lancers are back in action when they head to the Pirate Collegiate Classic on Monday and Tuesday, October 6-7.
