FARMVILLE, Va. – Five Longwood women's soccer players have been named to the Big South Midseason watchlist, the league announced today.
Forwards
Emma Jones and
Sam Fischer, midfielder
Meghan Piazza, defender
Sydney Robertson, and goalkeeper
Sara Curtis were named to the list.
Jones had the game-winning goal against Alabama A&M, and she has two assists as well this season. She has 10 shots with six on goal, so far this season. For her career, she has four goals and four assists.
Fischer previously earned both Big South Freshman and Forward of the Week accolades from the Big South this season. She scored her first collegiate goal against Alabama A&M, scored twice against VMI, including the game-winning goal, and added another goal against American. She's had a total of four goals so far this season, two assists, and 16 shots with 10 on goal.
Piazza has tallied four goals so far this season, and she is 2-2 on penalty kicks. The junior has a total of nine shots, six of which were on goal. For her Lancer career, she has six goals and two assists.
Robertson was the Big South Defender of the Week on Monday, and she was a Big South First Team selection a year ago while helping lead Longwood back to the playoffs last fall. In addition to serving as a stalwart along the back line, she has an assist this year and two goals and two assists in her Longwood career.
Curtis is the reigning Big South goalkeeper of the year and has recorded two shutouts this season against Alabama A&M and Western Carolina. She has 37 saves this season and 92 saves as a Lancer. She also has a total of eight shutouts in her time at Farmville.
Longwood (3-4-2) returns to Farmville on Saturday to begin conference play against Gardner-Webb at 2 p.m. This match will air on ESPN+
