GREENSBORO, N.C. – James Nelson was sharp after a nine-day layoff for Longwood baseball on Tuesday at UNC Greensboro.
The Lancer (11-38) right fielder hit a three-run home run and drove in all four runs for Longwood, but it wasn't enough as UNCG (20-30) used a four-run third inning to take the lead en route to an 8-4 win.

UNCG cut the lead to one after loading the bases and plating two in the first, and then a sacrifice fly by Brantley Truitt tied the game at three apiece in the fourth. That started a four-run inning that Jacob Dilley capped with a two-run home run for a 6-3 lead.
The lead grew to 8-3 before Nelson singled home a run in the eighth inning for the Lancers.
