CHARLESTON, S.C. – One big inning was the difference on Saturday afternoon in the series finale for Longwood baseball at Charleston Southern.
 
The Bucs (22-14, 8-7 Big South) batted around in the third inning to win 17-6 in seven innings over the Lancers (10-30, 4-11 Big South).
 
Longwood outhit CSU behind multi-hit days from Tre Keels, James Nelson and Mikey Urbaniak, but the home side drew eight walks and had timely swings to counteract it.
 
Kaden Smith again had a big day for Charleston Southern, driving in five runs while hitting a home run.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
 
The Lancers took the lead in the top of the secondon a sacrifice fly by Urbaniak that scored Keels, but CSU answered with a two-run home run from Lucas Pringle.
 
Keels then knotted the score at 2-2 in the top of the third, but Charleston Southern was unstoppable in the bottom half of the inning. Smith hit a grand slam, and the Bucs plated 10 runs to put the game out of reach.
 
Urbaniak had an RBI double, and Bentley Yeatts hit a two-run home run for Longwood, but CSU answered with runs and always limited the damage for the final tally.
 
Ryan DuSang (2-0) got the win for Charleston Southern after coming on in relief in the second. He tossed 2.2 innings while striking out five against one run on three hits and a walk.
 
Ried Dittner (2-3) took the loss. He gave up 10 runs in 2.1 innings while striking out four against six hits and three walks.
