FARMVILLE, Va. – Longwood outdoor track freshman Sophie Farley was named the Big South Women's Outdoor Track Freshman of the Week, the conference office announced today.
 
Farley posted a pair of strong results at the first outdoor meet of the season for the Lancers, setting program records in both the 800m and 1,500m at the Fred Hardy Invitational, hosted by Richmond.
 
Her time of 4:33:43 was the top mark, by four seconds, in the league in the 1,500m. That time broke the team record by 19 seconds as well.
 
Meanwhile, her time of 2:13.05 in the 800m is the third-fastest time in the league early in the outdoor season. It broke the program record by 11 seconds as well.
 
The Lancers return to the track this weekend at the Dr. Jack M Toms Alumni Invitational Friday and Saturday, March 28-29.
