FARMVILLE, Va. – Longwood men's basketball got blitzed by Winthrop on Thursday night, falling 85-59.
Â
The Eagles (20-10, 10-5 Big South) cruised behind a season-high 16 made threes. Bryce Baker hit nearly half of those, matching a career high with seven triples while going 7-10 from three. He had a game high 23 points.
Â
Baker paced Winthrop, and his stretch of three straight triples in the first half broke the game open after it was tight early. Nick Johnson and Kasen Harrison also had 10 points apiece for the Eagles.
Â
Longwood (17-13, 6-9 Big South) had three players score in double figures, with
Kyrell Luc leading the way with 13 points in the team's final home game of the regular season.
Johan Nziemi and
Jaylen Benard added 10 points each as well.
Â
However, Winthrop's defense was very sticky and made life tough throughout the game for Longwood, and the Eagles tied a season high with 23 forced turnovers.
Â
The Lancers are in the thick of the conference seeding race and have one game remaining. The team heads off to play at USC Upstate on Saturday, March 1. The game will start at 2 p.m., and it will air on ESPN+.
