THE OPENING TIP
•    Longwood men's basketball wraps up a two-game homestand with Gardner-Webb on Wednesday night.
•    The game is sponsored by Bank of the James.
•    Following the matchup, Longwood will play two of its final three on the road, with trips to UNC Asheville and USC Upstate sandwiched around a home game against Winthrop.
•    Longwood is tied for sixth in the Big South standings with Gardner-Webb, although the Runnin' Bulldogs won the first meeting between the two teams 92-87 in Boiling Springs, North Carolina.
•    The Lancers have had nine different players lead the team in scoring in a game (or tie for the lead).
•    Gardner-Webb has surpassed 90 points four times in its past seven games, and the Runnin' Bulldogs are led by Daryl "Buddy" Simmons II, who averages 17.7 points per game on the season, which is third in the Big South.
 
LAST TIME OUT
•    Longwood battled but came up short against Presbyterian 77-68 on Saturday at the Joan Perry Brock Center in a rare home loss.
•    The shorthanded Lancers had four players score in double figures, with Elijah Tucker and Kyrell Luc leading the team with 15 points apiece.
•    Angelo Brizzi added 13 points, and Michael Christmas finished with 10 points.
•    Longwood shot only 40 percent from the floor, but the team went to the foul line 39 times, one shy of a season high, with Luc leading the charge by going 13-17 from the free throw line.
•    Quadir Pettaway had a career night for Presbyterian though, pouring in 18 points, and Kobe Stewart hit big shots late in the game on his way to 16 points.
•    Stewart's late shots fended off a hard-charging close by the Lancers in the final five minutes.

•    The Lancers have done so by getting to the free throw line a lot.

•    Defensively, Longwood leads the Big South in turnovers forced per game (14.9), a mark that ranks 26th nationally.
•    The team's +3.0 turnover margin is second in the league, behind only UNC Asheville.
•    Longwood also holds the best three-point percentage defense in the league at .319.
