THE OPENING TIP
•    Longwood hosts Winthrop on Wednesday for Youth Day. Fans are encouraged to dress like their favorite superhero, and there will be a chance for autographs and pictures at the end of the game.
•    The Lancers are above .500 for a fifth straight season as they enter Big South play.
•    Longwood and Winthrop were separated by two points in the Big South Preseason Poll.
•    Elijah Tucker was a Preseason All-Big South First Team selection for the Lancers.
•    Longwood and Winthrop eliminated each other in each of the past two Big South tournaments, with Longwood winning in 2024 en route to the conference title while Winthrop won last spring on a run to the championship game.
•    Longwood begins Big South play with matchups against Winthrop, High Point and UNC Asheville, with trips to High Point and Asheville following the matchup with Winthrop.
 
LAST TIME OUT
•    Longwood cruised past Averett in the team's return from a break for the holidays.
•    Four Lancers scored in double figures, and all 11 players that played, scored in the 92-49 win on Sunday.
•    Elijah Tucker had a team-best 15 points while going a perfect 6-6 from the floor. Redd Thompson, Jr. and Alphonzo Billups III added 14 points apiece while Emanuel Richards chipped in 10 points.
•    Tucker scored five of the team's first seven points as Longwood jumped out to a 7-0 lead, and the Lancers never trailed while shooting better than 60 percent from the floor in the game.
•    The defense held Averett to 17 first-half points, a season-low. Longwood gave up only six made shots in the opening 20 minutes.
•    Josh Seiler and Timayahs Bracey scored in double figures for Averett, with Seiler tallying 15 while Bracey added 11.
