FARMVILLE, Va. – Longwood athletics will add men's and women's indoor track this winter and will compete at the Big South Indoor Track & Field Championship early in 2026. 

The Lancers join the Big South as the sixth team on the men's side and eighth on the women's side, with Brooke Craig overseeing both the cross country and track programs efforts.  

"My approach to our growth has been to start small and think big", said Head Coach Brooke Craig. "With this approach, we have been able to grow the sprints, jumps, and hurdles squad gradually each year, and our program is now ready for the next phase. I am excited for the future of our program as we continue to become more competitive in the Big South Conference." 

Over the past two seasons, Longwood has run in select indoor track meets while building into outdoor track season. 

As a part of the full track season, the Lancers will compete in five indoor events while running in up to nine in outdoor. The indoor team will be eligible to run in the Big South Indoor Championship, which will be held in Tyron, N.C., on Feb 27 and 28. 

The Lancers will begin their indoor track season on December 4 and 5 for the Liberty Kickoff at the Liberty Indoor Track Complex.
