HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Spartans scored quickly Sunday afternoon when they put together five consecutive hits plating two in the first inning.

Longwood responded in the bottom half thanks to an RBI single from Drew Camp. They then tied the game in the bottom of the second when Keondre Shelton hit a sacrifice fly.

After trading runs in the fifth, USC Upstate broke the tie in the sixth. They sprayed three hits to score their three runs on the inning.

Blagen Pado brought the game within two in the bottom of the seventh when he blasted his third home run of the season.

The Spartans wasted no time in the eighth to get that run back, while adding another. They plated two runs on sacrifice flies, and the Lancers trailed 8-4.

Longwood added one in the eighth, but the comeback ultimately fell short in the ninth, dropping game three 8-5.

Andrew Potojecki (0-5) threw 5.2 innings Sunday, his best on the season, but took the loss for the Lancers while Cooper Ellingworth (5-3) earned the victory.
