NORFOLK, Va - One game after
Hayden Harris went 5-5 at the plate for Longwood baseball,
Ryan Perez racked up four base knocks. Unfortunately for the Lancers (17-21), it wasn't enough as Norfolk State used some big early swings to take down Longwood 8-2.
Longwood outhit the Spartans (10-26) Wednesday, but it was the Spartans who utilized the big hits to grab the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Norfolk State struck first in the bottom of the second inning on a Brendan Burke single. A batter later Emmett Jefferson hit a three run shot to give the Spartans a 4-0 lead.
Longwood responded in the top half of the third.
Hayden Harris got the scoring started with a sacrifice fly to center field, and
Noah Campanelli added another run one batter later.
From there Norfolk State starting pitcher Nolan Manzer would hold the Lancer offense at bay. He worked out of jams in multiple innings to blank Longwood the rest of the way and wrap up a complete game effort.
Ried Dittner came on in relief in the third inning, throwing three complete innings while only allowing one run to keep the Lancers within reach.
Longwood would strand runners in every inning after the third inning, as Manzer kept the offense off balance.
Perez had a perfect day at the plate for Longwood where he went 4-4.
Dallas Hairfield (2-3) took the loss for Longwood as Nolan Manzer (3-2) picked up the victory.
